Demirkapı Tunnel Electromechanical System Communication

BACKGROUND
Project: Demirkapı Tunnel Electromechanical System Communication
Distributor & Partner: GSL Engineerin
End User: General Directorate of Highways / 13th Regional Directorate of Highways
Modern intelligent transportation systems demand multi-layered technological solutions for the safe and efficient operation of large infrastructures like tunnels and bridges. Within these complex structures, various electromechanical systems perform vital functions such as traffic management, security, environmental control, and energy distribution. For example, Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) systems continuously monitor traffic flow and incidents, Telecontrol units remotely manage equipment like lighting and ventilation, central Traffic Control Centers (TKM) collect and analyze all this data, and Electrical Distribution Buildings (EDB) manage the tunnel's energy flow. These are among the principal systems.
The uninterrupted operation of these seemingly independent yet tightly integrated systems, and the instantaneous transmission of their high-volume data to the central hub, depends on a robust communication infrastructure. It's critical that there is no data loss in these systems or in their communication. Therefore, it's essential to use hardware that is durable enough to withstand challenging environmental conditions, meets system requirements, and supports redundant communication.
In line with these needs, the Demirkapı Tunnel Project, carried out by the 13th Regional Directorate of Highways, required reliable data collection from all electromechanical systems (CCTV, Telecontrol, EDB, TKM) inside the tunnel without any loss. This requirement highlighted the importance of establishing an integrated and uninterrupted communication backbone as a fundamental step in bringing the project to life.
Our Solution & Achievements
Tohether with our local partner GSL Engineering — a leading and trusted distributor and engineering company in Turkey — we delivered a reliable communication infrastructure for the Demirkapı Tunnel Electromechanical System Communication Project.
For this electromechanical systems project, Kyland Ethernet switches were deployed across CCTV, EDB, and TKM systems to ensure stable and secure connectivity. The solution was successfully tested, commissioned, and configured on-site, with support from GSL Engineering. Kyland’s industrial Ethernet switches are also deployed in the Nallıhan Kuş Cenneti Çayırhan In-Tunnel Communication Project.

Why KLG Smartec & Kyland
